why arent you aking care of her properly? she would like it if you took her to a lake and let her go. the florida part has nothing to do if she will be able to live in illinois. as long as you let her go in may and ahe has time to adapt she would be fine come winter because she would hybernate. as far as a house to drop her off you could try out the zoos there. this is not that exotic of a pet so there wont be a large demand at animal zoos and places.
Ignore samstaff. The last thing Illinois needs is exotic reptiles being introduced.
Contact the Chicago Herpetological Society. One of its members would probably like to take your turtle and give it a excellent home. You might even like to join the group or at least attend a meeting or two.
