Who will be Payne Parks' neighbors?
This is the east side of Payne Park today. A "developer" is trying to turn this 9 acres into condo's... bet he won't have the same art work.

"bet he won't have the same art work"
"bet he won't have the same art work" is as clever as it is disingenuous. Presenting, as it were, a false choice between what exists (in no small measure through a lack of code enforcement!) and what the current developer is asking for. The property owner should have painted over the tagging and Code Enforcement should have seen to it.
The property was re-zoned via a city staff initiated request from the commercial to RMF-4 Medium Density Residential over the strong objections of the neighbors who had an opportunity to participate. The neighborhoods wanted RMF-3.
It turns out that neither the neighbors nor the developer were satisfied. And the developer is pushing a land use change to allow 50 units per acre and a Downtown Core designation.
"Downtown Core" across from Payne Park? Four hundred and fifty condominiums walling off Payne Park from the morning sun? And the neighbors in Terrace Gardens from the Gulf breezes and setting sun?
Now, the writer may not have spoken to Stan Zimmerman or any of the neighbors in Terrace Gardens before attempting to initiate a discussion on the application that has failed to sway the neighbors or the Planning Board. But we encourage all who speak to this issue to imagine thier reaction should a developer propose to put an 82 foot tall condominium 300 foot wide in their back yard.
All our peaceful neighborhoods and homes are on the line here, Each incursion into some neighbor’s quiet enjoyment degrades the affected party most and degrades each of “ours†a bit as well.
We must all hang together or we will be hung one by one.
